The Allergy, Clinical Immunology and Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Sections have developed a comprehensive program since 1973 studying mechanisms of asthma including allergies, hives, chronic bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), inflammation, sepsis, and respiratory distress syndrome. They have become a leading national program in health care research and evaluation for patients of all ages with asthma and allergic diseases.
