Biography

A 1974 graduate of the Medical School at George Washington University, Washington DC, Ned Ferguson completed his residency at the University of Wisconsin in 1978 and began as assistant professor in the Section of General Internal Medicine. He joined the Preventive Cardiology faculty in 1995.


Ferguson's foremost areas of interest include primary and secondary prevention of coronary artery disease and stroke, the importance of lipoprotein subclass distribution in evaluating lipid disorders and their treatment, the roles of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins and remnants, HDL cholesterol in the pathophysiology of coronary artery disease, and beneficial effects of statin drugs besides LDL reduction.

Board Certified in Lipidology by American Board of Clinical Lipidology, 2007
