Biography
Director of the Electrophysiology Program
Cesar Alberte joined the Section of Cardiovascular Medicine in July 2003, as an electrophysiologist. He received his medical degree from the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain in 1994. Dr. Alberte completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago. He completed his Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship and his Electrophysiology Fellowship at Indiana University, Indianapolis in 2003.
He was a recipient of a Physician-Scientist Award by the American Heart Association Midwest Affiliate for the study of atrial arrhythmias in heart failure. He is the Director of the Electrophysiology Services and the Coronary Care Unit at the William S. Middleton VA Medical Center.
Dr. Alberte is active in a wide range of therapeutic modalities for patients with arrhythmias including radiofrequency ablation and implantation of medical devices. His research interests include prevention of sudden cardiac death and interventional management of cardiac arrhythmias.
