Biography
Director, Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory
Giorgio Gimelli completed his internal medicine residency and cardiovascular fellowship training at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, and interventional cardiology training at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. After completion of his training he worked for two years as an interventional cardiologist at the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan, Italy.
An Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, Dr. Gimelli joined the faculty of the University of Wisconsin in June 2001. His research interests include percutaneous left ventricular assist devices in high risk interventions and carotid stenting.
