Biography

Dr. Bell joined the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health faculty in 1979. She received her medical degree from the University of Illinois School of Medicine and did her internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Minnesota Hospital. She completed her internal medicine training at the Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston and also spent one year as Chief Medical Resident at the New England Medical Center. Her Rheumatology training was done at the Robert B. Brigham Hospital for two years prior to coming to the University of Wisconsin.

Her clinical areas of interest include rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).

Dr. Bell as been actively involved in medical education, especially involving students and residents her entire career. For these efforts, she has received many teaching awards. For five years she was a Co-Clerkship Director in Internal Medicine clerkship. Since 1999, she has been the Associate Dean for Curriculum at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and is actively involved in curricular innovation and research.

Her current clinical research interest is a study on the phospholipid syndrome in patients with SLE.
