The January 2003, Academic Medicine Journal published an article that outlined a list of competencies that Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology and Surgery expect their first year residents to have at the start of their residency and another list of competencies that are expected to be obtained within the first 3 months of their training.
