Supported Models

The Dept of Medicine IS Group provides varying support for many of the industry's newest and most popular smartphones. This support includes up to the syncing of contacts, calendar events, and email from the Groupwise system.

After you have purchased your phone, please bring it to the IS Group Help Desk prior to entering any personal information -- this includes calendar events or contacts. One should plan to leave the unit at the IS Group Help Desk for a few hours for setup and initial sync.

The following will provide an overview of current models and support.

Blackberry

Many of the most popular Blackberry models are supported. To take advantage of the syncing services with Dept of Medicine resources, the Blackberry in question must include an Enterprise Data Plan with its service contract. This plan will come with an additional cost, and IS Group staff cannot request this on your behalf.

The following models are supported Blackberries.

• Blackberry World Edition

Apple iPhone

The iPhone interfaces with the Groupwise system using an Exchange account. The iPhone OS currently limits the setup of a single Exchange Account per phone. Make sure this limitation does not affect user needs prior to requesting Groupwise syncing.

All versions of the Apple iPhone are supported by the Dept of Medicine.

Unsupported Models

Unfortunately, some currently-sold smartphone models are not supported by the Dept of Medicine. Any model or unit not specifically noted above will not be supported by the Dept of Medicine. Notable models include:
