Sterling Johnson, PhD

Sterling Johnson, PhDSterling C. Johnson, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor in the Geriatrics and Gerontology division.  His PhD is in Clinical Psychology with a Neuropsychology Specialty. He completed an internship followed by an NINDS-supported postdoctoral fellowship training in neuropsychology and functional neuroimaging in the Department of Psychiatry at Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover, NH.

The major focus of Dr. Johnson’s research relates to understanding the neurobiology of cognitive decline and brain changes in aging and Alzheimer’s disease (AD). A particular emphasis is on preclinical detection of AD.  Another area of focus is on the salutary effects of caloric restriction on brain structure and function in aging. A third major area of study is on understanding brain recovery after traumatic brain injury.
