The Echocardiography Lab has been significantly upgraded with the recent purchase of an additional Philips 7500 Echo Imaging System with capabilities of live 3D imaging, second harmonic imaging and tissue Doppler echocardiography and a digital echocardiography work station. Image display and storage is fully digital using a Pro Solv System. About 2,500 echocardiography studies are performed annually, including approximately 2,300 routine diagnostic studies; transesophageal echocardiograms, either intra-operative (about 20 cases per year) or CCU-based (about 35 cases per year); 150 dobutamine or exercise stress echocardiograms, and 500 myocardial contrast echocardiograms.
