General Clinical Center (GCRC)

The GCRC is a National Institutes of Health-funded clinical research unit located in UW Hospital and Clinics. The primary objective of the GCRC is to make available to medical scientists the resources necessary to conduct clinical research. The GCRC provides:

  • nine inpatient and outpatient rooms
  • support personnel, including biostatisticians, specialized nurses, a research dietitian and other specialized staff
  • a sample processing facility
  • funds for research-related patient care services
  • a facility for computerized data management and analysis
  • supplies and equipment necessary to perform high quality clinical research studies on healthy subjects and patients with cardiovascular and other diseases
