The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine participates in many single and multicenter clinical research trials sponsored by the National Institutes of Health, philanthropic organizations and industry. Details of the studies are listed in the arrhythmia, interventional, imaging, myocardial metabolism, heart failure and prevention sections. The UW Clinical Trials Office and support staff dedicated to Cardiovascular Medicine include six full-time nurse coordinators and several part-time research associates.

Significant clinical research-related resources are readily available in the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and the UW Hospital and Clinics to support clinical investigators.
